In the past few years, I have been very fortunate to organize study abroad trips with students to Spanish-speaking countries focused on making cross-cultural comparisons between the US and Latin America. These trips have included 4-5 visits with groups providing services in a variety of capacities for victims of domestic violence. We have visited Costa Rica and Argentina, and we're gearing up for Peru in March 2024 and Spain in May 2025. We stay with host families, which allows for a truly one-of-a-kind experience as we live like locals, learn a lot about culture, and still find time for some of the more well-known tourist attractions.
I have had the distinct privilege of serving as club advisor to several very active and visible groups including the Psychology and Human Services Club, Global Exploration Club aimed at raising awareness of study abroad trip opportunities and planning many community events, and the inaugural year of our brand new Psi Chi chapter honoring our brightest and most active students.
I attend as many professional conferences as I am able and take advantage of any professional development opportunities I learn about. I have spent considerable time with Quality Matters coursework, having completed the Teaching Online Certificate as well as being a certified Peer Reviewer. In addition, I have been trained in Mental Health First Aid, Safe Zone, Ally Training, and am a facilitator of the non-violence bystander intervention program Green Dot at both the campus and community levels. I have also been quite fortunate to serve as an AP Psychology Reader throughout my entire academic career including holding a variety of leadership roles both on-site and in the virtual formats. Finally, I also serve as an Executive Reviewer for the CREP (Collaborative Replication and Education Project) and enjoy some consulting work with colleagues when the need arises.
